To contain the COVID-19 infection, people were advised to stay indoors at all costs. Malls, schools, restaurants and other public gathering places have shut their gates creating fear, anxiety, and boredom in the people within their homes.
But they did find some relief from the boredom with their smartphones and PCs. The internet-traffic in Italy skyrocketed amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the people swapped their work and school for online gaming.
According to a report, games like Fortnite and Call of Duty have seen a massive spike during COVID-19 lockdown.
In an interview with Bloomberg, the Telecom Italian CEO, Luigi Gubi Tosi said, “ we reported an increase of more than 70% of Internet traffic over our landline network, with a big contribution from online gaming such as Fortnite.”
Amid all these, Discord, an application for online game-chat has announced that it has temporarily increased its screen share limit from 10 to 50 people for better social interaction during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Almost every single industry is affected by the coronavirus pandemic, including the multi-billion dollar porn industry. But this did not stop a company from lending a hand in its own way.
Pornhub, a pornographic video sharing and pornography website has recently declared on Twitter that it’s giving its one-month premium service for free to the Italian users stuck in their homes due to the COVID-19.
The company’s move is to control the spread due to the social meeting and help them to remain indoors. Italian users can now access the entire premium content till April for free.
