$70 Billion For Activision Blizzard By Microsoft Corp!

Ever since the announcement of Metaverse, the big tech companies are rolling up their sleeves to compete with Meta’s megaproject.

We are witnessing the buying and new collaborations of tech companies almost every week. And Microsoft Corp has announced its one such move.

Microsoft is buying one of the giant video game makers – Activision Blizzard Inc for a massive $68.7 billion. This acquisition will be the biggest deal ever made by Microsoft.

Once the deal’s completed, Microsoft will be slingshot to become the world’s 3rd largest gaming company. As of now, China’s Tencent Holding Ltd stands first followed by Sony Corp, the maker of PlayStation, and Apple holds 3rd place.

And all these companies are preparing their key technologies in a quest to conquer the AR-future world.

Since mobile gaming is on the rapid rise, Activision Blizzard couldn’t stay up to the trend of the new world of gaming on its own, Chief Executive Officer Bobby Kotick said in an interview.

After a detailed analysis of the changing gaming world, Activision Blizzard decided to team up with the software giant.

“You look at companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, and Apple, and especially companies like Tencent – They’re enormous and we realized that we needed a partner in order to be able to realize the dreams and aspirations we have,” Kotick said in a report.

“Together our ambition is to bring the joy and unity of gaming to everyone on the planet,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a report.

The software giant is trying prominently to have a stronghold in the gaming world, and with the growing gamers’ community for Minecraft and Halo, the company with the acquisition of Activision Blizard is on its way to creating its own metaverse.

It is preparing to merge Activision Blizzard’s all past and future games into its cloud gaming service.

“We need to support many metaverse platforms, as well as a robust ecosystem of content, commerce, and applications,” Nadella added.

In 2016, Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for $26.6 billion.
