Blizzard has just released the highly-anticipated ‘Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest’, a collection that bundles remastered versions of the iconic real-time strategy games ‘Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and ‘Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness’, along with a substantial 2.0 update for ‘Warcraft III: Reforged’.
Unveiled during the “Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct“ live stream, the new remastered collection is available now on Battle.net for $39.99, giving fans of the series a chance to revisit Azeroth’s origins with enhanced visuals, audio, and modernized gameplay.
“Faithful Yet Enhanced: ‘Warcraft’ Classics in 4K”
The ‘Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest’ brings ‘Warcraft I’ and ‘Warcraft II’ back to life in high definition, adopting a similar remastering approach that Blizzard took with ‘StarCraft Remastered’ in 2017. Both games feature newly reworked high-resolution artwork, with enhanced sprites and maps that retain the nostalgic charm of the originals while updating them to modern standards.
Blizzard has taken extra care to stay true to the visual style that longtime fans remember while boosting textures, character models, and environments for 4K compatibility. Classic features like the fog of war, distinct unit voices, and the iconic orchestral soundtrack have also been remastered, delivering a more immersive experience.
The quality-of-life upgrades bring ‘Warcraft I’ and ‘Warcraft II’ into the 21st century with support for widescreen resolutions, faster loading times, and improved controls, including customizable hotkeys and pathfinding enhancements.
However, it’s worth noting that these two games are “PC-exclusive”; they are not supported on Macs, unlike ‘Warcraft III: Reforged’, which retains compatibility across platforms.
“Warcraft III: Reforged 2.0 – Blizzard’s Redemption Arc”
Blizzard also aims to rectify the mistakes of its poorly-received ‘Warcraft III: Reforged’ with a substantial 2.0 update, which is included in the ‘Battle Chest’. ‘Warcraft III: Reforged’ launched in 2020 with high expectations but was met with widespread criticism over missing features, bugs, and what fans considered a lackluster graphical overhaul. This backlash led Blizzard to offer automatic refunds, a rare step for the gaming giant.
The new update for ‘Warcraft III: Reforged’ seeks to address these issues. Version 2.0 introduces enhanced environments, updated character models, and refined animations. Blizzard has also added a feature allowing players to toggle between the remastered graphics and a high-resolution version of the game’s original visuals, providing both a nostalgic option and a polished, modern experience.
The update also comes with advanced modding capabilities, as well as better tools for creating custom games, which were crucial to ‘Warcraft III’s’ original success. Additionally, Blizzard has implemented a rebalanced multiplayer mode and dedicated servers for a more stable and competitive online experience, finally giving fans the version of ‘Warcraft III’ they’ve been waiting for.

Set to launch in January 2025, this event will bring iconic characters and units from the ‘StarCraft’ universe into the ‘Hearthstone’ card game, giving both franchises a fresh connection that many fans didn’t see coming.
“Warcraft Rumble Beta Launch”: Blizzard also shared more details on ‘Warcraft Rumble’, a new mobile and PC strategy game inspired by ‘Warcraft’s’ rich lore and characters. The game will be available for beta testing on PC starting December 10, and it promises a casual, action-packed experience focused on tactical skirmishes with familiar heroes and villains.
“A Fitting Tribute to ‘Warcraft’s’ Legacy”
Blizzard’s ‘Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest’ release is not only a love letter to fans who have been following the series for decades, but it’s also an invitation for new players to experience where it all began.
These games laid the foundation for one of gaming’s most influential franchises, and this new collection allows players to fully appreciate the strategy, storytelling, and innovation that cemented ‘Warcraft’ as a cornerstone of the genre.
As ‘Warcraft’ celebrates its 30th anniversary, Blizzard is clearly committed to honoring the legacy of its franchise, while opening doors to new adventures within the ‘Warcraft’ and ‘StarCraft’ universes.
With updated graphics, improved gameplay, and exciting expansions across multiple games, ‘Warcraft’ is set to enchant both old fans and a new generation of strategists, further solidifying its place in gaming history.
